At April's - sightseeing and departure

All photos: Siw Haugnes, pictures without people can be used, as long as source is given. Pictures with people may only be used by the people shown.

Arild and I like to do things, so Arild browsed some info about the area in and around KC to find sights and such. He came up with the local Harley Davidson factory and the Steamboat Arabia museum.

The survey went like this:
Arild: "Zach, do you want to come with me to the HD factory?"
Zach with a wide grin: "Yes"
Arild: "Donique, do you want to come?"
Donique: "What, a MC factory? No thanks"
Siw: "That's my girl"

At the right is one of the pictures taken from the only area in the factory where it was allowed to take pictures.

The steamboat museum was quite different, both Donique and I wanted to join for that one.

Steamboat Arabia was a mid size river boat, built in 1853 and wrecked only three years later in 1856. Amazingly it sank so slow that no one were killed.

It had left St. Louis a few weeks earlier without having unloaded anything on the way. That made what was on board a genuine snapshot of what was carried to the west for the settlers in the mid-1800s.

Very fascinating, Zach and Donique took many pictures there.

Donna at last gave April the Italian meatballs she had long promised her. This was due to a frenetic Facebook discussion about where the remains from the New Year's Day dinner were to go (Yeah, I love good cooking). Thank you Donna, it tasted just lovely.

Fit as a fiddle, I was now capable of thinking about contributing to the house cooking. Since a china grocery store was next to the steamboat museum, it seemed appropriate with some traditional Norwegian cooking, so homemade spring rolls (egg rolls) was selected.

It was in connection with this meal Hakeem was overheard in a telephone conversation with his wife: "Now she's cooking something, I don't know what but something Chinese she said. They sure like to eat, how come they're so skinny, when they like to eat so much".

The amount of food and the level of activity might, possibly, have something to do with it.

The day after was departure day, sad, but no vacation last forever.

Thanks for a marvelously pleasant family visit!
